Have you read the Daily
5 and CAFÉ books, but still have questions about how to help
teachers as they make changes in their classrooms?
Are you looking for a
focused and intensive seminar to give you the tools you need to assist
Welcome! We designed the Leading
from Within seminar with you in mind.
We believe change in schools that is sustained over time comes from
within -- from colleagues we trust, working side by side with us as we
try out a new conferring strategy, or rearrange our classroom library,
or help a student set a reading goal for the first time. If
you are a leader within your school community -- the person everyone
trusts to design thoughtful professional development, or coach teachers
in their classrooms, then the Leading from Within
workshop may help you in your work.
This two-day workshop is designed for administrators in leadership
roles at school where many teachers are using the Daily 5 and CAFÉ
Assessment programs. This small event is led by Gail Boushey
and Joan Moser ("The Sisters"). We've pored over the hundreds
of questions we've received from literacy coaches, curriculum
coordinators, and grade-level team leaders to tailor the content,
instruction, and materials to your needs. Our goal
is help school leaders think through and plan whole staff
professional development and individual support for colleagues.
We'll give you the guidance you need to help colleagues in grades K-6
at any level of experience (from novice to master teachers)
implement Daily 5 and CAFÉ in their
classrooms. Participants will leave with
a DVD library of over 10 hours of classroom footage, templates, and
strategies for designing multi-year in-house professional development
We've strictly limited this event to 25 participants, to allow for
continuous interaction with us, as well as instruction tailored to
individual needs. Participants will leave with a resource kit
of DVDs and print materials valued at over $1600.
This workshop is open to
educators who are full-time employees of schools or districts.
Applications will only be accepted from educators who work in schools
where the Daily 5 has been used by staff for at least two
years. Applicants must also have read both the Daily 5 and
CAFÉ books to participate.
This is NOT an
introductory course -- this is intensive, advanced
leadership training for educators ready to take their staff to the next
level in quality and consistency with Daily 5 and CAFÉ.
Note: Teachers who do not lead school professional
development initiatives and private consultants are not eligible to
attend this event. Due to the limited size of this seminar,
no more than two participants per district will be allowed to attend.
Participants will receive:
