Data Walls? How about Data Cards! (VIDEO and DOWNLOAD)
We designed "Data Cards" as a visual tool for grade level team meetings. They create an "at a glance" view of the entire grade level and how students relate to each other in terms of level and progress. They are really helpful when we are determining who needs additional support, and how we might best use resources to meet various student needs. Column headings on the three-fold laminated chart denote reading levels. Each teacher is represented by a different color of highlighter tape or mini arrow flags so we can identify classroom trends. A blue arrow marks the grade level expectation for the time. Colored dots are added to indicate students receiving special services, with different colors representing specific interventions. The download below details specific directions for constructing the data cards.
