FAQ: How does my room arrangement affect The Daily 5™?

Printer-Friendly Format

A: Our current room arrangement includes areas such as: The Gathering Place, The Den (classroom library), small private work spaces, work spaces that can accommodate small groups of children, and open spaces for larger working groups. Once children are taught how to be independent in these various classroom areas, they are given choice over where they spend their time during the day.

Daily conversations include the following positive suppositions: "Pick the best place for your brain and body to work." "Where can you be the best learner?" "Pick a spot where you and others can learn." and "Choose a spot where you will be successful."

Utilizing every nook and cranny of the room meets various learning styles, provides for those who want to learn privately or collaboratively, facilitates independence, and prevents issues caused by best friends and classmates being in close proximity.
