After teaching a new strategy to the whole class, we ask one student to record and post it on the CAFE board. This anchors learning to the class menu and provides an easy reference for students to review. One way to make this learning hands-on for all students is to have them write the strategy on their own menu. They keep it in a book box or binder and where they can access it as needed. Each personal menu contains strategies that have been introduced to that specific child during the year in whole-group, small-group, and individual settings.

Notice that only the first letter of each CAFE goal is written. Students complete each heading on their own, helping to cement ownership and learning.
